Colonial and Postcolonial History of Medicine

The team of the French-Romanian MA "Politics in a Global Age: States, Borders and Societies", in collaboration with lecturers and researchers from Senegal, Switzerland, France, Belgium is organising a training programme that will take place online and in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.

Exploring the striking importance of colonial components to long-term histories of health and medicine, from the early modern period to modern times, the course will cover three themes:

  • ‘Colonial and Postcolonial History of Medicine’,
  • ‘Urban Space and (In)Visible Sites of Postcolonial Memory’
  • ‘Political History of Science and of Museum Collections’.
