Caribbean Museums: Connectors, Conveners, and Catalysts for Change – conference + CfP

MAC CONFERENCE 2026 invites to consider how Caribbean museums strengthen bonds across generations, landscapes, and nations. This conference examines how memory work, cultural stewardship, and community engagement can advance well‑being and sustainability in a rapidly changing world.

We welcome proposals that reflect the breadth and complexity of museum practice across the Caribbean and its diasporas—from community-driven initiatives and experimental curatorial approaches to interdisciplinary collaborations, ecological perspectives, and practices rooted in care, access, and equity.

Contributors are encouraged to interpret the theme expansively, drawing from diverse cultural contexts, languages, and lived experiences, and to consider how museums today respond to shifting social realities while imagining resilient, inclusive futures for the region.

The deadline for proposal submissions is May 29. Proposals will be accepted in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, and Papiamento, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the Caribbean region and supporting broad participation across its communities and diasporas.
