Bill tabled in Belgian parliament introducing ban on trade in human remains

[ in French and in Dutch ] Although it is accepted that human remains are out of trade and therefore should not be sold, practice shows that this happens anyway.

In late 2022, a Brussels auction house put three human skulls from the colonial period up for sale.

After public protests, the auction house decided not to continue the sale.

This bill therefore aims to make explicit the ban on the sale of human remains.

The bill has not yet been passed.
