Private couple returns Emperor Menelik era sword

The Emperor Menelik era sword returned by Gunnar and Kirsten Bjune to Ethiopia was polished clean for a wedding.

The Emperor Menelik era sword was returned by Gunnar and Kirsten Bjune to Ethiopia. It was once used by the Bjune family in accordance with Norwegian tradition to cut the cake in 2002 for their daughter Ingunn’s wedding to Aye Chang Naing, the Burmese head of the Democratic Voice of Burma.

Since then it had remained in their attic until Kristen convinced her husband they should bring it back to Ethiopia so that it can be seen by the public in the National Museum.
