The Netherlands returns 113 bronze objects to Nigeria after 128 years

The statues belong to the so-called Benin Bronzes, the cultural heritage of the West African country.
On February 19, 2025 in the afternoon, the transfer was signed by Minister Bruins and the head of a Nigerian delegation. Jos van Beurden, researcher of looted colonial art, explains to the Dutch NOS Radio 1 News what will now happen to the Benin Bronzes [ in Dutch ].
