De ontleder ontleed – The dissector dissected

[ in Dutch  ] The University Museum Groningen has a collection of human remains from Petrus Camper (1722-1789). Where do they come from and how can their presence there be understood? This issue of Magazine De Boekenwereld  is about Camper, his ideas and his collection.

All contributions in this journal address the question of how to understand Petrus Camper’s work in the scholarly, enlightened and colonial context of his time.

As now, science in Camper’s time was about collaboration, interdisciplinarity, ethical rulings, inclusion and exclusion, and public communication.
