Restitution of the archives of Africa through a digital portal

[in French] Recently, the restitution of cultural belonging has been stirring up the web. We talk about treasures, but there is no treasure without archives. However, colonial archives, true treasures of history, are often forgotten in discussions about restitution. This book offers a suggestion...

By questioning history, I realized that the Western powers no longer want to return these goods. The justification: colonial archives would henceforth be a shared heritage. They colonized, participated in decisions, co-signed documents…

But we forget that pre-colonial archives were also looted from African colonies. This argument has become a major obstacle to restitution.

Faced with this reality, I proposed an innovative solution: a platform for the digital restitution of Africa’s colonial archives, with a particular initiative for Benin: https://lnkd.in/erPRGgGy.
