Objects as ambassadors of Kanak culture – about paradiplomacy and protodiplomacy

[in French] The metaphor of “objects as ambassadors” - used to refer to Kanak objects originating in New Caledonia and currently kept outside the territory, and sometimes returned there temporarily for exhibitions, arises in a context of institutional decolonisation and the aspiration for full Kanak sovereignty, with New Caledonia remaining a sui generis French overseas collectivity.
