Material and intangible cultural assets form a central pillar of collective cultures of remembrance. They serve to identify with one’s own group and at the same time to distinguish oneself from other communities.
For a long time, the memory of colonial rule and the violence associated with it was dominated by the perspective of Western actors. The 2 days workshop expands this narrow view through the perspective of local communities in the former colonial territories.
